Icon Tutorial

Hey everyone sorry it took me so long my photoshop was acting really weird the past few days o.o;
its better now though 8D
ENJOY!

Step One:
First thing you want to do is crop whatever part of the image
you want to use for your icon, and resize it to 100x100

(this is mine)

Step Two:
This next step is very simple. Go to your layers section,
and take this layer and duplicate it two more times.
Now you should have three layers of your 100x100 image.

Step Three:
Delete the main background layer so now you only have two.
Now click on the bottom of the two and go to
IMAGE > ADJUSTMENTS > VARIATIONS
What i did after that was clicked on MORE CYAN TWICE
(you can choose whatever you want though)

(if you turn off your top layer you should have something that looks like this)

Step Four:
Now select your top layer.
Go: IMAGE > ADJUSTMENTS > DESATURATE
Then go in to that layers blending options and set it to hardlight

(This is what mine looks like so far)

Now for the fun and SUPER EASY PART.
Install this brush set (there are two brushes)
SENDSPACE D/L

Your brushes (once installed) should look like this

Create a new layer. Then select this brush
Using a color of your choice (I USE WHITE)
Click on the icon somewhere and drag your mouse somewhere else.
This brush will randomly place dots of your color on the image.

(this is what i have so far)

Then taking this brush
I chose a light blue color (again use whatever color you want)
and randomly placed it on the icon (more towards the top, but not going over miku's face)

Once thats finished just give your icon a save!

40 An Cafe Icons

Wow im amazed with myself. In a recent search through old photobuckets i stumbled upon all my old icons. So i figured id share my old An Cafe Icons with everyone since i dont believe ive ever posted them here. Anyway a lot of them were for contests (hence all the Bou)

Hope you like them (keep in mind some of this are more than a year old XD)

Step One:
Crop your 100x100 Image, for this tutorial i'll be using this picture of Die from Dir En Grey

Step Two:
Duplicate you base layer, desaturate the new layer and set it to screen.
You should end up with something like this

Step Three:
Duplicate the screened layer, set it to hardlight, 38% Opacity
You should get something like this

Step Four:
Time for textures, take this texture and paste it in a new layer, set that layer to screen

Your image should now look something like this

Step Five:
Now paste this second texture into a new layer, set it to screen, then drag it to wherever you think it looks good (i put it in the lower right hand corner)

And your icon is done!

Your icon should now look like this:

Feel free to add text, brushes, whatever. Hope you enjoyed it!

Miku Icon Tut #1

Okay so this is my first tutorial, so hopefully you all like it and its easy to follow. Also, ALL textures are from the members on texturize so venture through there, but if you see i used one of your textures and would like your credit up here please let me know and ill be happy to add you. Now on with the tut!

Step One:
Create your 100x100 Image, for this tutorial we'll be using this one of Miku from An Cafe:

Alright now that you have your starting 100x100 image your going to duplicate your base layer, desaturate the new layer, and set it to screen.
(Layer > Duplicate > Desaturate > Screen)
Your image should look like this

After you've done that duplicate the desaturated layer and set the new copy to Hard Light
(Layer > Duplicate > Hard Light)
Your image should now look like this

Now that our image looks right were going to add a little texture:

Add ^-- that texture as a new layer and set that layer to screen
Your image should now look something like this

Now that your image is right feel free to add brushes and text wherever you want.
My ending image is:
